If you are in need of additional training in your line of work in order to get a raise or even a promotion but going to a regular college will not provide you the extra education you need, then you are not alone. Many people have a career in a field that is not taught at the four-year schools, so these people attend vocational or trade schools. And many are unaware that there are trade school grants and scholarships that will help cover the cost of their education.
Even if you do not like the thought of it, sometimes going back to school will give you exactly what you are needing so you can make more money. Believe me, I understand the drawbacks of attending a regular college. First, there is the commute and once you get there you have to drive around just trying to find a parking spot, and then you have to sit in a boring classrooms all day long. I tried going that route and decided it just was not for me. Instead I opted to go to a vocational school for my education and the trade school grants and scholarships helped me avoid much of the unnecessary debt.
Just like a regular four-year college, if the vocational school you want to attend is accredited, then you may be able to get a grant or two from the government. You need to fill out the FAFSA form and send it off, which will determine how much aid you can receive based on your income. Which is important, as application need to be sent in as soon as possible after the first of the year.
But don't stop there. Each school also has special trade school grants and scholarships that you may not know about. The government gives schools their own little pots of money to help assist students in their education. Plus there are also businesses and nonprofits that set up scholarship for which you may qualify to receive.
